How the Cloud File Archiver Works

The Infinidisc Cloud File Archiver is comprised of a local appliance (tiny Linux NAS on your network). You choose the size and speed of the local cache. It communicates with a remote file server at the Infinidisc datacenter and copies files there according to the schedule you set. The remote file server copies files to tape (and duplicates the tapes for offsite storage).

Files stay on the local cache until space is needed. They they are replaced with shortcuts that act seamlessly when clicked on to retrieve the files from the archive.

All metadata information on files (dates, security, ownership, etc.) are maintained in the archive database.

Archived files are de-duplicated, compressed, and encrypted.
